IEP

Gregory had his IEP meeting a few weeks ago. All in all it went really well. Kind of big one since this is the one that will carry him into Kindergarten!!! Cannot believe my little boy is going to be in Kindergarten!!!!

I'll try and give you just a general idea of how it went. Although Gregory has made progress, he is still delayed cognitively, in speech articulation, and motor skills.

We all worked together to come up with goals that will best help Gregory in all these areas. The IEP was very detailed so his new teacher will know exactly how to best help Gregory. He will benefit from the use of a part time aid. He will receive speech therapy and Occupational therapy. I'll keep you posted on any new information!

Easter

Better late than never. Easter was nice. Just met Papo and Mimi at church  . . . Back to our house for lunch. All Galactosemia friendly:

Ham
Rolls
Salad
Fruit
Chips
Deviled Eggs
Oven roasted potatoes

So yummy!

Gregory was getting restless inside church so went outside to let him run around and had fun taking pictures.

I saw this on Pinterest awhile ago. Sunday Gregory and I decided to give it a try. Gregory LOVED it and played with it a long time! Its so soft, great sensory input and smells good! I got the recipe here.

Friday night pizza and movie night

I've been wanting to start some new traditions with Gregory. Growing up my parents and I would make home made pizza every saturday night and eat it while watching Star Search! (I'm dating myself here.) That was like the first American Idol, right? LOL. My mom would pretend to be "Zelda" and talk with an Italian accent. It was the best!

So, the past 3 Friday nights, Gregory and I have done the same thing! So fun! Although, he asked me to stop talking in my italian accent. Oh well. Hopefully he'll look back at this memory as fondly as I do. :)

"Horton hears a who"

5 year check up!

Gregory had his 5 year check up!!! He's doing good. Vision and hearing are good. He is 44.75 inches tall which is in the 81% percentile and weighs 46.2 lbs which is 80% percentile.

She gave us a Miralax plan to get him going number two on the potty. We started it Thursday. He has gone on the potty once so far. Fingers crossed!!!

Here is to another healthy year honey!

Disneyland

For Gregory's Birthday my mom and I took Gregory to Disneyland for his first time! Anyone who knows me knows its one of my most favorite places on earth so to experience through my son's eyes was so fun!!!

We got a 3 day pass which was something I never thought I'd be able to do!!!! So worth it to just take our time and relax and take it all in!!!

Cars Land was amazing! So is the Radiator Springs ride!!!

Here are some pictures of our amazing trip.

PS. Gregory did AMAZING with all his sensory issues!

Gregory turns 5!!!

We celebrated Gregory turning 5 at a park. It was a "Fishing" theme. Kids and grownups could fish, play bubbles and just enjoy the beautiful weather that day!

Galactosemia food was:
*Turkey Sub Sandwiches
*Tortilla Chips
*Fruit Salad
*Salad
*Blue jellow with sweedish fish inside!
*Capri Suns
*Cupcakes made with Duncanhines cake mix and frosting

It was really fun!!! Thanks to all my family that helped make that possible!

Thanks to everyone for the great presents for my not so little G Man! :)

PS. Gregory caught the only fish of the day!

Homemade doughnuts

Growing up my mom would always make homemande doughnuts. All it is is refigerator biscuits like from Pillsbury, oil for frying, powder and granulated sugar. You heat up the oil, push a whole through the raw biscuit, fry, dip in sugar of your choice! I'm sure there are lots of ways of doing this. When my mom did it it was a special treat for sure!! I could not wait to try with Gregory. They were so good!!! And Galactosemia safe!

We're going to Disney Land!!!!

Gregory turns the big 5 on February 2nd! Last night I told him my mom and I are taking him to Disney Land!!!!!

Bless his heart . . . he has no idea this place even exists. But last night after telling him, showing him You Tube Videos and telling him all his favorite stars live there . . . he was beyond excited!!!!

This is, personally, one of mommys favorite places. I am so excited to see it through Gregory's eyes!!!! It will be a memory to last a life time I'm sure. AND, we're doing the 3 day pass!!!!! I've never done that. Not even 2! I'm so exited to just go, take our time, and soak it all in!!!
