It's summer time!

School is out! Gregory finished his first year of preschool! It was so fun, hard, amazing, challenging, sad, exhausting, good, inspiring, and just . . . Well let's just say I'm thankful for every part step along the way. He did it! We did it! I'm so proud of you honey! You've grown so much! I'm so proud of you!

Psychologist

On Thursday we went to go see Gregory's psychologist at his metabolic clinic. She wanted to meet with us after Gregory started his new school to look at the big picture and make sure no area in his life was being over looked. So appreciated that.

Main things from the meeting:

*Want to have his new teacher be more specific on what her "good" means when she says he's doing "good".
*To see what they are doing to help his social skills. To make sure he's learning how to act with others, ect.
*To look into the thought of him possibly having something like Autism or Aspergers. She didn't think so but thought it was worth looking into because if he does, then treatment for things would be approached differently.
*When parenting to focus on the positive and not the negative when disciplining. Instead of "don't stand on the couch" say "please sit down". Focus on what you want him to do. Give lots of praise.

I will meet with her again in June to see how all of this is going.

Allergist

We went to the allergist yesterday. In a nut shell, Gregory has eczema. He had this has an infant. When some one has eczema, they almost always test positive for some of the things Gregory is allergic too . . . eggs, corn, wheat, soy. He wasn't too concerned. Our plan of attack for now is he gave him a prescription for children's Zyrtec. To put cetaphil on him at least twice a day (we were doing once), and to stop using bubble bath/kid soap and start using the cetaphil soap. We'll start with that and if it doesn't get better than we can start eliminating one at a time the eggs, corn, wheat, and soy to see if that makes a difference. He said he thinks he'll get better with it as he gets older. So, thats that!

Levels

We get Gregory's galactose levels tested every other month. We gave him apples for the first time in February. We had his levels done after. We were curious to see if they went up because apples have always been "questionable". They went from 3.5 to 3.3 which is great news!!!

Next thing to introduce . . . tomatoes!!!! So exciting!!!!

Christian vs. Public

Gregory's old school was a private Lutheran school. Tommy and I wanted Gregory to go to a Christian school if financially possible. Private schools don't usually have resources for kids with special needs. So now Gregory goes to a public school.

He has only gone 3 days and 2 things have already stood out. Now don't get me wrong. U have nothing against public schools. I always went to a public school and I think I turned out pretty well. :)

But it is interesting . . . Gregory has already been heard saying, "Oh my God!" Which may not sound bad to most of you buy in our family that is just something you don't say. Very disrespectful towards our God.

The second thing was on Thursday when GT was leaving he went up to his teacher to give her a hug and she kind of didn't know what to do and just grabbed his hand. :(

Not bad. Just different.

So cute!

Friday night at Gregory's old school was an open house to display their projects from the year. It was really cute despite we were literally only there 10 minutes as Gregory was in sensory mode. You feeling me?

Swim lessons

Gregory started swim lessons . . . Again. He's done it ever summer since he was one through the city. Still can't swim. Lives water. Hates the pool. So this summer we decided to go through Hubbard Family Swim School!!! Only four to a class at most. A little costly for us but hopefully so worth it!!!

Yesterday was his first class and he did so good!!!! Was scared at first but they were so good with him and he did good and most important, he had fun!!!!! And wants to go back!!!! That's HUGE!!!! He woke up this morning and one of the first things he said was, "mommy I go swim lessons and I had fun and was so brave!" He keeps talking about it! Makes mommy happy. Felt so good to sit there and watch him be good at something and gave a good experience. :)

First Day!

Today was Gregory's first day at his new preschool at Papago Elementary! He went from 9:30-11:30. They said he had a great day! Was attentive. Dressed up like a fire man. Had fun playing with the kazoo that he made. There was one incident where a kid through a book at him so he went over and hit him. I think Gregory will fit right in! Ha! All kidding aside, he did great! I'm so excited for this new chapter in his life. :) Thanks for all the prayers and support!
